Hidden Voices: The World of Johannes Brahms

Andrew conducted a repeat performance of this highly successful programme for Londinium, focusing on Brahms' choral music.

Schumann and Kyburz with BBC Singers

Andrew worked as chorus-master to the BBC Singers for their collaboration with Ensemble Intercontemporain and conductor Susanna Mälkki. The repertoire included Schumann's Viel doppelchörige Gesänge and Hanspeter Kyburz's The Voynich Cypher Mansucript.

Performance at La Cité de la Musique, on May 11th.

Romantics Transcribed: NLCC a cappella

Andrew made his debut with the outstanding New London Chamber Choir, specialists in contemporary repertoire, in the closing concert of the Brandenburg Spring Choral Festival. The programme combined modern classics by Lachenmann and Saariaho with virtuosic transcriptions by Gottwald of German Romantic and French Impressionist masterpieces.

St John Passion at Cadogan Hall

A world-class line-up of soloists - Anna Devin, Christopher Ainslie, Andrew Staples, Jacques Imbrailo, and Mark Stone - joined Andrew as he made his debut at Cadogan Hall, conducting Kingston Choral Society and London Festival Baroque, led by Catherine Martin.

Andrew directed Londinium, one of London's finest chamber choirs, in a programme focusing on Brahms' choral music. Repertoire included Brahms' exquisite Fünf Gesänge op.104, works by his contemporaries Schumann and Cornelius, and music from his eclectic personal library, by Gabrieli, Eccard, Schütz, as well as the first performance of a new work by Timothy Burke.

Andrew produced La nuova musica's latest recording of music by Handel and Vivaldi for the Harmonia Mundi label.

Judith Weir at The Royal Opera

Andrew returned to The Royal Opera to work as coach and orchestral pianist on the UK Premiere of Judith Weir's Miss Fortune.

Dvorak's Jacobin with BBC Singers / BBC SO

Following last season's successful Bartered Bride, Andrew returned to the BBC Singers as chorus-master for a concert performance of Dvorak's opera with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jiri Belohlavek.

Jonathan Harvey's Wagner Dream at BBC SO

Andrew assisted Martyn Brabbins at the BBC Symphony Orchestra in preparing this Barbican 'Present Voices' performance of Jonathan Harvey's opera Wagner Dream.

Elijah with Kingston Choral Society

Outstanding soloists Anita Watson, Hanna Hipp, Robert Anthony Gardiner and Adrian Powter joined Kingston Choral Society and the Thames Sinfonia as Andrew conducted Mendelssohn's masterpiece, performed as part of the Kingston Festival of the Voice.

"Fire and Ice" with Londinium

Andrew made his debut as Music Director of Londinium City Voices, one of London's finest chamber choirs, in a thrilling programme contrasting Victoria's Requiem (in his 400th anniversary year) with contemporary writing by Mäntyjärvi, Nørgård, Pärt and Vasks.

Rameau's Castor and Pollux at English National Opera

Andrew returned to ENO as assistant conductor to Christian Curnyn for the company's first-ever staging of a Rameau opera. The outstanding cast included Sophie Bevan, Allan Clayton and Roderick Williams.

Dvorak's Rusalka at Glyndebourne

Andrew worked for the first time at the Glyndebourne Festival, assisting Sir Andrew Davis, leading the first two weeks of rehearsal, and conducting the cover showing of Dvorak's Rusalka.

Andrew conducted the first performances of Jessica Curry's 'Requiem for an Unscorched Earth', Perpetual Light, with chamber choir Londinium at the Old Vic Tunnels.

The Bartered Bride with BBC Singers / BBCSO

Andrew returned to the BBC Singers as Chorus Master to Jiri Belohlavek for the final performance of the BBC Symphony Orchestra season, a concert staging of Smetana's The Bartered Bride at the Barbican Centre.

Charpentier's Medée in Chicago

Following a successful production of Cavalli's Giasone in 2010, Andrew returned to Chicago Opera Theater for Charpentier's masterpiece, taking charge of the first two weeks of rehearsal before assisting conductor Christian Curnyn on his arrival. He played harpsichord continuo at the performances with the Baroque Band, and conducted the cover showing.

Andrew was reinvited to work as assistant conductor to Thomas Hengelbrock with the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble at the Grand Theatre de la Ville de Luxembourg.

Andrew returned for a third season at the Iford Festival, leading seven performances of Rossini's Cinderella directed by Bill Bankes-Jones with the CHROMA ensemble.

Andrew returned to the Royal Opera as offstage conductor for Donizetti's comic masterpiece, starring Natalie Dessay and Juan Diego Florez.

Cavalli's Giasone in Chicago

Andrew assisted Christian Curnyn at Chicago Opera Theater, leading many of the cast rehearsals, conducting the cover showing and playing harpsichord and organ in the performances.
